Poetry and play monologues (plays for one character) wanted. Submissions are open to students aged 12 to 19. Authors of selected works will receive a $50 Amazon e-gift card and publication in Kinsman Quarterly. Selected works will also be featured on its website, promoted on social media platforms, and included in printed advertisements. One student will be selected each seasonal quarter. You must upload a copy of a student ID or recent report card to participate.

Submissions are free and open from December throughout 2025. Please adhere to the following terms:

• Entry should be 1 to 5 pages long

• Entry should be submitted as an MS Word (.doc/.docx) or PDF file

• Entry should be unpublished works in English (but may include some non-English words)

• Entry must be age-appropriate for teens

• Entry must be reasonably free of misspellings and grammatical errors (ask a parent or teacher for help)

• Entry must be free of profanity or other content unsuitable for middle and high school students

• Entry should not infringe on the copyrights of another individual or entity

• Entry cannot be a derivative of an existing work or include characters from an existing work (e.g., do not submit a monologue featuring your favorite anime character).

Entries that do not adhere to the guidelines will not be considered. Successful submissions will be announced in our regular newsletter. If you do not receive notification of a successful submission within 90 days, your submission did not meet the journal's needs or standards for publication.

Copyrights of the individual submissions remain with the authors. Parental permission is required to publish the work. To ensure we publish original, unpublished work, authors are asked to wait three months after publication before republishing the work with another organization.
